10 things you need to know about "Synthetic Opal"
Oparex®, opal material from KYOCERA Corporation - Forbes Top Regarded Company, is a new product in the man-made opal market.
Oparex Opal is a heat-hardened of resin with a mixture of silica in a short period of time. Due to their formation feature, it is also named as "Resin Colloidal Imitation Opal". Different from lab-grown synthetic opal with high silica percentage, it only contains 25% of silica. It could also be described as Opal-like-plastic (OLP) as this is a new plastic material with color change effect.
Within Oparex Opal collection, Nebula Opal is an interesting product as it displays a wave of color change like nebula, some people also called it as “Aurora kind opal” as they think it looks alike aurora borealis. Nebula Opal color pattern is very irregular and will be very hard to have a standardized color range for mass production, especially when applies to small size design. Nebula Opal is more suitable for product markets that need big size design.
Oparex Nebula Opal has wave patterns that look like nebula or aurora.
